'The difference between faith and superstition is that the first uses reason to go as far as it can, and then makes the jump; the second shuns reason entirely—which is why superstition is not the ally, but the enemy, of true religion.'
- Sydney J. Harris (1953)

This is a response to a conversation a very good friend of mine and I were having, in which I was accused of lacking faith by relying to heavily on cold reason. I reminded her that every purveyor of any science is taking a huge leap of faith, assuming that we as humanity have the capacity to fathom the infinite through our exceedingly limited perceptions.

Superstition is belief in symbols without knowing what they represent, or that they are only representations.

Interesting framing, the colors are cast oddly imo but i suppose that suits the other worldly topic

Indeed, the practice of Santeria oddly comes directly to mind.
As for the colors, I've never been good at painting with colors, so everything's done in grayscale, and then colored afterward. I actually spent forever trying to find a suitable palette, and this was the most appropriate in my opinion.

In terms of realism, snow fall comes with overcast conditions which would give an even pale light and typically would force a lower color saturation and brighter [value] glow in places then you used, light also bounces off the fallen snow adding more light. I spend a lot of time in the snow ;) Reference [link] , realism is not the be all end all, but it would help if the colors cooled off a bit imho
